Description:

This ink drawing, from Luc-Peter Crombé’s first period is from the Italy-Spain-Morocco series. It is directly drawn using ink. The drawing paper was then attached to a panel with hot glue. This is a triangular composition, drawn with pen and brush and here a wash effect. Great artists have developed wash drawings such as: Dürer, Canaletto and Rembrandt. This technique was popular in the 18th century and ideally suited for the study of nature and light. This technique provides a great freedom of expression as well as a great accuracy and density. This washed drawing is drawn with liquid East Indian ink in monochrome and heightened (highlighted) with a different colour.
